Those of us that are lucky enough to be blessed with a long life are sure to also be cursed with face and neck wrinkles. You can, however, fight back…if you know how! Before we look at ways to get rid of wrinkles, let’s look at why they formed in the first place.
Wrinkles form because of three things that happen as we age. Looking at these individually will help you understand wrinkle formation better.
The first factor is the free radicals that are formed on your skin from exposure to sunlight. Their one purpose in life is to attack and damage your skin cells. Crows feet around the corner of the eyes is usually the first sign of free radical damage. Always wearing sun screen when you go out will severely limit free radical formation.
Collagen is a protein that is responsible for your skin’s elasticity. Your natural collagen production will begin to decline after the age of thirty. You can keep your skin looking much younger by using a good skin care cream that contains collagen.
Elastins are proteins that are used to bind skin’s dermal layers. As time passes and these elastins begin to dry and become brittle, folds will begin to appear on your skin. A good skin care product containing evening primrose oil, shea butter or other effective moisturizer will limit elastin problems.
To be effective, your skin care product should contain some other things. To eliminate free radicals, anti-oxidant (vitamins A & E) have to be included. A good skin tightening ingredient (ie: serum albumen) is also highly recommended. You should also look for ingredients that stimulate the production of collagen, like Matrixyl.
